I am thrilled to share a significant win for Bexar County taxpayers. I led the fight to pass one of the biggest tax cuts in Bexar County history, saving local taxpayers over $70 million per year in taxes.
As you may know, local taxpayers fund the University Hospital District, itemized on your property tax bill. The measure, which I have championed since this summer, was the proposal to increase University Hospital’s homestead property tax exemption to 20%, the highest allowed by the State.
This 20% homestead exemption is expected to save taxpayers an additional $54M per year on top of the $16M savings already approved earlier this year, making it one of the biggest tax breaks in Bexar County history.
When you elected me, I promised to put our values into action and deliver results. This achievement reflects our commitment to fiscal responsibility and a promise to put taxpayers first.
